About the Work:
Adam Vincent Clay’s setting of the Ave Maria blends lyrical warmth with clarity, designed for young voices. The piece connects to centuries of tradition while offering a fresh, contemporary voice. Gentle melodies and luminous harmonies create a meditative, expressive atmosphere.
For the Choir:
Sing the prayer as if it’s rising gently into the air. Let the melodies convey the angel’s greeting and the heartfelt plea, “pray for us sinners.” The harmonies are approachable but rich and full of subtle inner voices, giving each phrase space to be expressive, alive and reverent.
For the Listener:
This setting is accessible yet expressive, showcasing the beauty and resonance of high school voices in a sacred choral work.
